In this guide we will explore the possible causes of grey image when trying to draw a new region of interest on the Seeing AME Hub.

When a user is presented with the above image when trying to draw a region of interest, it indicates that the stream has been encrypted by the dvr or nvr or that the Compression type selected is H.265,

Steam Encryption is an additional layer of security on the dvr that prevents a third party software from accessing the cameras video and H.265 is a newer compression technique that encodes the stream in a different format than what the avlytics hardware can interpret.

This is a common issue when Avlytics is connected to Hikvision camera systems.

Because we are trying to connect a third party device to the camera system it is safe to disable stream encryption on the dvr as we intend to intercept and analyse the video.

To disable stream encryption :
Login to the DVR's web page and click on Configuration.

After logging into the DVR , Click on Configuration , then Network , Then Advanced Settings :

Untick the Check box for : Verification Code/Encryption

If Stream encryption is already disabled and the image is still grey, it means the incorrect compression technique is being used on the dvr.
From the configuration menu on the left, select Video/Audio.

Navigate to the Channels Video Configuration menu and Set the Video Encoding option to H.264 instead of H.265.
Remember to copy this configuration to all channels.
